Street Sweeper Maintenance Building, Wilmington, North Carolina

Cheatham and Associates provided engineering and design services for plumbing, mechanical and electrical systems.

The project was designed using Green Technologies with the goal of a net zero energy bill.  To attain this, roof-mounted photovoltaic power was harvested and utilized to provide solar water heating,  facility power and lighting with interconnection to the utility power system. The project also consisted of radiant floor heating and rainwater captured from roof used for irrigation for surrounding landscape.

This project received the 2009 Lower Cape Fear Stewardship Development Award for Significant Achievement; City of Wilmington Street Sweeper Facility

Perquimans County High School, Hertford, NC

Damuth Trane; Perquimans County High School Environmental Stewardship and Sustainability Award in recognition of energy conservation efforts by the Perquimans County Board of Education Facility and Staff.  Cheatham and Associates worked with Damuth Trane to evaluate energy savings and designed energy saving projects that resulted in cost savings for taxpayers.

After construction, in the first year of operation the energy usage was reduced by more than 30% from the previous year.
