Experience:    Fire protection engineering experience includes design of wet and dry pipe sprinkler systems, standpipes, fire pumps, clean agent systems, and wet chemical fire suppression systems for kitchen hoods for commercial, educational, state, and municipal projects, both rehabilitation/renovation projects and new installation projects.  Mr. Gilman is experienced in creating sprinkler head and piping layouts and hydraulic calculations to determine adequacy of water supply for code compliance, as well as review of contractor sprinkler shop drawings and hydraulic calculations.   He is also experienced in the design of fire sprinkler systems and standpipes for high-piled storage facilities, as well as design of standpipe systems for commercial marinas.  Mr. Gilman is knowledgeable in the NC Fire Code and multiple NFPA standards and has performed analyses of existing sprinkler systems for current code compliance.

 

Plumbing engineering experience includes design of waste and vent systems (including specialized wastes such as grease, oil, and acids), domestic water systems, natural gas and LP gas systems, rain water piping systems, compressed air systems, and medical gas piping systems for commercial, educational, state, and municipal projects, both new installation projects and rehabilitation/renovation projects.

 

Software experience includes proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, HydraCalc, and Microsoft Office.  Mr. Gilman is a LEED Accredited Professional and is experienced in green building design. He supervises the production of working drawings and specifications and is responsible for field inspections of plumbing and fire protection systems during project construction, review meetings, preparation of plumbing and fire protection drawings and specifications, opinion of probable project cost, submittal data reviews, construction observations, and record drawing preparation.
